St Gabriel Lodge is fortunate to welcome Dr Ric Berman to deliver his Prestonian lecture ‘Foundations’ at their regular lodge meeting on 3rd April 2019. The lodge extends a cordial welcome to Brethren of the Province of Northumberland to attend the meeting and hear this lecture.
Over the past three years Dr Berman has become one of the most-travelled Prestonian Lecturers, having spoken at multiple venues across the UK, Europe, North and South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
His lecture explores the evolution of Freemasonry, queries long-standing myths and explains the step change that occurred with the creation of the first Grand Lodge in England in 1717. He outlines the connection between freemasonry and the British Establishment in the eighteenth century, and how and why its leaders positioned Grand Lodge and freemasonry as a bastion of support for the government.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
This is a unique occasion as Prestonian Lectures are rarely given in this Province so do not miss the opportunity to attend this one. It is anticipated that the lecture will attract a large audience, and to ensure everyone will be comfortably seated, the lodge has restricted Temple seating to 140 and dining to 130.
