NHS Day at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House

Mon 5 July 2021 | 7pm

We are delighted to announce that the Tyne Theatre & Opera House in Newcastle upon Tyne will be hosting the finale to a series of national events supporting the forthcoming NHS Social Care and Frontline Workers Day.

It’s a pleasure to be able to host this live streamed show in the North East, and we’ll be joined by several well-known local and national stars across our live programme and through pre-recorded messages. We can’t wait to share this great night of entertainment, filled with good humour and music performed on the Tyne Theatre stage.

X Factor winner, musical theatre star and number one artist, Joe McElderry, will perform a number of songs from his repertoire to say thank you to the NHS workers and all those who helped in the fight against Covid-19. Joe will be joined by several other local and national stars.

Also on the bill is BBC Radio presenter and top comic Steffen Peddie, fondly known as the Big Man of Northern Comedy, Steffen is famous for playing Big Keith in BBC2’s hit comedy sitcom Hebburn. A charming, charitable, and hilariously funny man, Steffen will be live on stage to bring a much-needed smile to us all.

We are equally thrilled to confirm the hilarious Cal Halbert, this extremely versatile impressionist, comedian, actor, host & voice over artist will also be performing. Cal is also one half of ‘The Mimic Men’, the UK’s only impressionist double act. They performed on Britain’s Got Talent in 2016 and gained four yeses accompanied by a standing ovation by the judges, audience and Ant & Dec. Cal’s high-energy interactive entertainment is sure to bring that fun factor to our Charity show.

The live-streamed event will be compared by all round good guy Tom Whalley. The actor, writer and administrative screener in one of the many Covid vaccine centres, will guide us through this special show.

As well as an online audience, we hope to be able to welcome an in person audience of NHS Foundation Trust, North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance Service and the Northumbria Blood Bikes key workers and families, who will be invited as a small token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

This live-streamed event is free to watch, but we are asking for donations in order to raise much needed funds for the two chosen charities; NHS Charities Together (Charity No.1186569) and the National Care Association (Charity No.1011650).
