Brothers William and Joseph Elliott were both members of Lodge Temperance 2557. Younger brother William was the first to join in 1907 followed by Joseph the following year. Neither are mentioned in the Lodge WW1 Roll of Honour but the registers clearly show they served during the war.

Unfortunately the service and pension records for William’s time during the war can’t be found so are probably among the 60% of the Service Records lost during the Second World War. However, the pension record survives for Joseph who was a private with the Cameronians and then the Highland Light Infantry.

We have now completed short biographies of both brothers and you can read the little we know about William’s story here  and Joseph’s story here or go the Roll of Honour, scroll down and select their name.

Let’s hope someone with knowledge of William reads this and gets in touch.
